Henry Rowlands

Director, The Detox Project

Henry grew up on an organic sheep farm in Wales and has been involved in clean food and agriculture ever since. His family has been involved in shining a light on the dangers caused by toxic chemicals for four generations.

Following work as a journalist across Europe, Henry founded The Detox Project in 2015, which he set up to enable the general public to test themselves for long-term exposure to pesticides. After growing interest from consumers and brands alike, The Detox Project launched the Glyphosate Residue Free certification program in 2019, to show which food, supplement and beauty products do not contain the world’s most used weed-killer.

The Glyphosate Residue Free certification market has now reached over USD $800 M. Brands such as Oatly, Chobani, MegaFood, Chosen Foods, AG1 and Beyond Meat are amongst the hundreds of brands that have certified their products as Glyphosate Residue Free.

In 2025, Henry also launched the first ever QR code based third-party certification, CleanScan, that enables brands to showcase their lab testing results directly to consumers as well as making certified claims regarding heavy metals, pesticides and GMOs.

Alongside his work on toxic chemicals, Henry is also an advisor to governments, pension funds and brands around the world on regenerative agriculture and the use of outcome-based data to improve soil health and reduce synthetic chemical inputs. Henry recently co-founded Regenerative Hubs, which implements regenerative agricultural ecosystems from seed to product in Gambia, India and Scotland.
