Joshua Sclar, MD, MPH

Joshua D. Sclar MD, MPH is the Chief Clinical and Public Health Advisor at Uber Health, where he directs clinical strategy. Prior to joining the Uber team he served as the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Innovation Officer for Avesis, a leading supplemental benefits insurer, where he oversaw the company’s clinical, quality, and product development work. Dr. Sclar was the Chief Medical Officer at BioIQ, a leader in consumer friendly diagnostic testing and healthcare quality improvement which was acquired by Let’s Get Checked in 2022. Prior to BioIQ he was the Chief Medical Officer at Ingenios Health, which developed one of the first purpose-built mobile technology platforms for health needs assessment and was acquired by Almost Family in 2016. Sclar was a member of the steering committee that created the Johns Hopkins Sibley Innovation Hub and served as its first lead designer and innovator in residence. He has published peer-reviewed research on a variety of topics in healthcare delivery while working at the US Food and Drug Administration, Columbia University Medical Center, and the Johns Hopkins Center for Public Health and Human Rights, and practiced clinical medicine at St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York and completed residency training at Johns Hopkins. Additionally he earned a master’s degree in public health as a BJC Healthcare Scholar at Washington University in St. Louis, and holds a bachelor’s degree in saxophone performance from the University of Miami.
